Caring for your earrings
KUMAI earrings are made to be worn often and for a long time. A few simple habits keep the perle cotton bright, the motifs in shape and the findings comfortable for years.
Materials
- Perle cotton. A mercerised cotton thread - a natural fibre whose smooth, rounded twist keeps its shape and holds crisp stitch definition.
- Silver-plated copper ear wires and jump rings. Plated findings can develop a gentle patina over time; keeping them dry slows it down.
- Clear silicone backs. Soft, comfortable and secure, supplied with every pair.
Everyday wear
- Keep your earrings dry - cotton can stretch and lose shape when it gets wet.
- Put them on last: after perfume, hairspray and other cosmetics, so sprays settle on skin and hair rather than on the cotton.
- Remove them before swimming, showering or sleeping.
Storage
- Store each pair flat in its original card packaging so motifs keep their shape.
- Keep them out of direct sunlight, which can fade colours over time.
- Store pairs untangled, with the ear wires clear of the cotton loops.
Cleaning
- Spot-clean gently with a barely damp cloth, dabbing rather than rubbing.
- Air dry naturally, away from heat sources.
- Do not machine wash, soak or tumble dry.
